Longwood University Rugs

On April 24, 2001, Longwood University experienced the most tragic fire in her one-hundred and sixty-six year history. Gone in a matter of hours were Ruffner Hall, Grainger Hall and the beloved Rotunda. Less than twenty-four hours later, Dr. Patricia Cormier addressed students, faculty, and staff assuring them the buildings would be rebuilt.
“The spirit of Longwood cannot be held down, and as the Phoenix rose from the ashes so shall we.”
On April 23, 2005, just four years, minus one day after the fire, Longwood was made whole again as the “new” Ruffner's and the “new” Rotunda was dedicated and open again.
Rug Rats is proud to have been selected to oversee the making of the custom made carpets and rugs and install the historical designed carpets in this beautiful building.

This axminster cut pile carpet was custom made at Bloomsburg Carpets. The carpet was designed by Fred Kuntz of Kuntz and Associates, the architect who directed the re-building of the Rotunda and the Ruffner halls.
