Custom Hand Tufted Rugs
The most popular custom rug construction is hand-tufted, 100% wool rugs.
At Rug Rats Fine Carpets, every custom rug and carpet we used to create reflects our careful attention to the needs of each customer. Our superbly were crafted custom area rugs/carpets are Custom hand-tufted rugs from the finest wool fibers.

Custom hand-dyed colors are also available. Qualities consist of cut pile, loop pile, needlepoint, and petit-point. Custom Renderings and corner swatches are also were available on each rug. Custom hand-tufted rugs take 9-14 weeks to arrive at your home. Prices vary by quality. Hand-tufted rugs offer the opportunity to produce a custom handmade wool rug to any design and color.
These wool hand-tufted area rugs were manufactured using a tool known as a “tufting gun.” Loops of wool are pressed through a backing that’s been printed using the overall pattern of the rug. Once the rug maker finishes this procedure, an additional base, known as a scrim, is used with latex adhesive. Once this cures, the last protective fabric backing is put on.

The final phase is to shear the area rug to ensure that all the loops on top of the carpet are cut, producing the pile.
Hand-tufted area rugs can stand up to excessive foot traffic and will start to wear out after approximately 20 years of use. Heavy traffic locations include areas like corridors, living rooms, and entrances. Moderate traffic locations include the dining area and home office. Lower traffic locations include bedrooms and formal living rooms.
